Model Construction2

Frame for model
Finished flat piece of model!

Attaching model to frame.
Shadow which the light created by putting the lighting inside my model, really did not expect this! (but it has turned out better than I thought)

It's not clear, but there was some interesting patterns on the ceiling from my light. Kind of looked like water reflections

Idea

After experiencing the site I found that in the parks, even though they were quite open and spacious the tall buildings around it made the whole area still feel sheltered and 'covered'.
Here is a mock-up of my model though it got kind of squashed in my bag..

If you imagine that each loop was a personal space and you were standing inside, you would feel that the bottom and top of the loop are rather spacious as there are no covers, and the sides would feel very sheltered.

I also wanted to create a situation where when you wake up possibly inside the light, there are different opacities of shadow on your face at different times.

Laser Cutting

So on monday we got into our groups and displayed our site models that we did with our partners. THEN proceeded to cut the models up so that there was no overlapping of the site :( (our model got cut and not resembles nothing of our original model!)

On wednesday we got our new projects.. each of the four groups got assigned to a different task. My group got to do laser cutting, where we have to make a model which uses the laser cutter (for suitable reasons eg. to cut very small and refined shapes). We also have to integrate the 'light' part into our model (our models and meant to be lights, or related to light in some form.)

Site Model Making..

Me and Yejin have stressed a LOT about this.. we found that string and card was difficult to work with

Digital Carnival

Semester has started! and we have been given our first project, which is called 'Awake'. We are to look around the site (which has been picked out for us-around downtown area) and choose a 500m section, then model it with our assigned partner. My partner is Yejin,

Here are some photos Yejin took on her camera of the site..

Apart from the two parks (above) there doesnt appear to be a lot of trees/plants on site. Most of the site consists of offices/apartment blocks/shops etc.
will update more on the progress of our work..
