Detail..
Started making my 1:1 model, good thing my building walls are all plastic. Pouring concrete looks extremely difficult!
Checking measurements however is taking a LONG time.. turning out to be harder than what I had originally thought.

Weeks 8-9 Gifting - Augmented Reality
The start of a new project: Gifting
These two weeks my group is doing Augmented Reality, which, by the end of we are to have a 1:1 model showing detail of our building.
Given that my previous project was about a photography studio, I chose to focus on the gift of capturing moments. I have chosen my site to be on The Strand on top of the VTNZ building.
Met with the tutors on wednesday and they gave me some ideas
Taking your car for a Warrant of Fitness is not the most exciting thing. Everyone wants to spend as little time at the mechanics as possible, drop the car off and leave to do something more interesting. This 'moment' is very short and could be seen as a wasted moment in the day.
Now, I can give this moment more meaning (taking into account my idea), let's say instead of spending a few minutes dropping off your car, you instead take a lift up to the rooftop where there is an art gallery and cafe for you to enjoy while waiting for your car to be repaired. This transition from chore(taking your car to the mechanics) to enjoyment(the art gallery and cafe) is the exact definition of my idea, capturing this 'moment' within life(going through the motions) and turning it into something worth remembering(as art often does).

Finalised!
Unfortunately I kept forgetting to take photos as I was developing my building design so I only have the final product.
BRIEF:
Startup business is a photography studio
4 photographers including myself
Startup business is a photography studio
4 photographers including myself
Final building with rooftop opening to natural sunlight
Back exit
Entrance
White and Black cubes/backdrops for taking photographs
The lift
Inside the darkroom
the hidden darkroom in the floor
Gallery at the entrance to display photographs
The darkroom caters to one of the photographers interested in black and white photography and one the photographers is interested in concert photography, thus placing my building near vector arena for easier access.

Change
After discussion with the tutors, they'v agreed that I'm making this building too literal and rather than taking ideas from the building I'm just mimicing the 'style'. So, I've been trying out some there hollow cubes which rotate to create a threshold/transitional space as a part of the 'free-flowing' idea from the Barcelona Pavilion

More Second Life
been working on my building, though at the moment I don't really know where I'm going with this.. it's hardly looking like a building at all
got the idea to make a platform with pools from my matrix building - the Barcelona Pavilion (the building is linked to the pools through poles/supports)
Floating to create a feeling of peace and freedom..?
